Dog Who Was Chained For 8 Years Can’t Believe He’s Getting His Own Bed

Steve was rescued from a yard in South Carolina, where he had been tied up for nearly eight years, along with other dogs. When Diamond heard about Steve, they immediately knew they had to make him part of their rescue family. When Stevie was picked up by Diamond, it was clear he had a lot on his plate. Besides being blind, Stevie also suffered from lice, umbrellas and hair loss. Also, he had an old cob of corn stuck in his intestines, which had to be surgically removed. In addition to his medical issues, his caregivers had to patiently care for him and get him used to living indoors in a loving home.

He slept most of the time, but sometimes he growled and barked in his cage and I thought he was protecting me. When we got home we moved his cage but he never came out. He was blind and I was very careful with him because I didn’t know him yet.

As Stevie began to heal physically and mentally, he began to come out of his shell and quickly became the biggest dog around. His foster family appreciated how he tried new things, like having his own bed for the first time. His foster parents knew that Stevie would never have slept on a soft bed before and made sure to get him a soft bed. He was overjoyed when he felt her softness at his feet and immediately started jumping on them.

Erin Boyd, Steven’s foster mum, said: “He slept most of the time, but sometimes he would growl and bark in his crate and I thought he was protecting me. When we got home we moved his cage but he never came out. He was blind and I was very careful with him because I didn’t know him yet.

Now, when Stevie found a dog bed, he had to take a little leap. He is so happy to have something that makes him feel comfortable and shows everyone how happy he is at all times.

He’s very bright,” Boyd says. He quickly learned to navigate my house, walking from the back yard, through the garage, and up the three stories of the house. He knows when to come into the kitchen to wait for his meat, and he can jump on my little round bed.” She sleeps a lot, but loves cuddles, walks, chewing on squeaky toys and giving kisses. Stevie is in the process of being adopted and is looking for a local family who will recognize her uniqueness. He needs a home without other animals. Preferably, he would like to live with a very down to earth person who can give him all the attention he has been missing for his first eight years.

Someone who would sleep with him on the couch, take him for walks, sunbathe him, and give him lots of love and affection. Stevie’s been through a lot, but he now has a cozy dog bed and a lot of humans to love, so I think things will work out. If you are interested in adopting Stevie, please contact Diamond for more information.
