A guy turns the space behind the wall into a bedroom for his cat

A few months ago, Bryan Davies and his family opened their hearts and home to an adorable shelter cat named Wyatt. And it didn’t take long for the curious kitten to discover her new favorite hobby.

“Wyatt loves watching birds and squirrels from the window,” Davies told The Dodo.

Rather than make Wyatt wait for the birds and squirrels to appear, Davies decided to get creative.

During the winter months, when animals visited Wyatt’s viewpoints less frequently, Davies found a way to supplement the cat’s favorite form of entertainment. He searched the internet for bird videos and showed them to Wyatt on a tablet.

“We turned to YouTube and he loved it,” Davies said.

Wyatt now had his own personal television. But Davies wanted to give him something even more—his own little room to look at.

After a recent remodel in her home, Davies had noticed an unused space along a wall near her bedroom. It made him think.

“It was the perfect place for an even smaller room in our little room in our little house,” Davies said. “So I opened up the wall and started remodeling.”

When the small room was finished, Davies furnished it with a small cat bed and other fixings.

The small space really came together.

Davies even adorned the walls with small works of art that he thought Wyatt might appreciate.

For the finishing touch, Davies mounted his cat’s TV to a wall, so he could watch his favorite shows — animal videos — in the comfort of his own small space.

Then came the time to show Wyatt. The cat’s reaction?

“He loves it,” Davies said.

Davies admits he wasn’t sure Wyatt would actually use the little room he built. But it quickly became the cat’s favorite place.

“He spends a lot of time there, asking to watch his show before taking a nap,” Davies said. “He walks up to the screen like a normal teenager. And he naps-hard. He really appreciates it as much as a child who finally got his own room.”

Wyatt doesn’t spend all of his time in the room, of course. But he seems to like having a special place to call his own.

For Davies, the effort he went into creating the small space for his family’s cat was more than worth it. After all, Wyatt just means the world to them.

“He’s our best friend,” Davies said.
