The oldest robber in the world JL Hunter Rountree wanted revenge on the banks

The hero of our story is a very popular man, the oldest bank robber in the world.

According to him, he became a thief because time stole his youth, his health, his relatives, and the banks stole his wealth.

Being a brave, hard-working man, JL Hunter Rountree founded a successful business, raised a beautiful family, loved his wife Frey dearly and his son-in-law whom he raised as his own child.

Rountree, nicknamed Red, said he robbed his first bank when he was around 80 because he wanted revenge on the banks that had thrown him into a financial crisis.

JL Hunter “Red” Rountree was born in 1911 in Texas, USA.

He was first arrested in 1998 in Biloxi, Mississippi, when he was 87, for robbing SouthTrust Bank and served three years on probation.

A year later, Rountree committed yet another robbery, this time at the Nation Bank in Florida, from where he stole $8,000. For this theft, he was sentenced to five years in prison.

In January 2004, at the age of 92, the man was sentenced to 151 months in prison for stealing $1,999 from a bank in Texas in 2003.

He was unarmed. Upon entering the bank, he walked to the counter and handed an envelope to the bank clerk.
The employee put the money in the envelope and Rountree fled to his car.

Rountree was arrested by police on a highway 30 minutes later after the robbery.

And the same year, in October, the oldest robber left this world.
