A grateful kangaroo offers a handshake after three men rescued him from a lake

We always love to see people helping animals. : Animals usually don’t show much appreciation for a good deed.

But sometimes animals have an adorable way of saying „thank you“ to their rescuers, like this kangaroo who offered a handshake to the men who rescued him.

According to Daily Mail Australia, a man named David Boyd saw a kangaroo in Lake Burley Griffin in Canberra. The water was apparently freezing, and the animal was unable to get out.

But two brave bystanders then braved the icy waters to help the roo to safety.

The men approach cautiously so as not to frighten the kangaroo. Once they approached and tried to grab his arms to pull him to safety, the kangaroo started waving his arms around.

But undeterred, the men grab the animal and pull it out of the water. A third man helps lift the kangaroo onto dry land and keep the frightened and trembling animal calm.

Although they seem gentle, kangaroos can be dangerous if they feel threatened.

Fortunately, this kangaroo seemed to understand that these men were there to help him – and in a heartwarming moment, he even stuck out his paw as if to offer a handshake.

The man filming the rescue is heard saying, „Ah, he thanks you.“

According to Daily Mail Australia, the kangaroo was in „shock“ and needed half an hour to calm down.

But according to the Courier Mail, onlookers said the kangaroo eventually got back on its way.
