“The Thorn Birds” was immediately accepted by many viewers, many of whom already knew the plot from the books: in the early 1980s, viewers liked to compare how different the storylines were from the prequel.
Some have watched the series again and again, fascinated by the pure and honest love story and wanting to believe it. Many sat in front of the screen and felt like it was really happening to them.
