Meet Cinnamon, the happiest dog in the world, who never stops smiling despite his illness

Cinnamon is an 11-year-old Shiba, sick with glaucoma and Cushing’s disease, who never stops smiling. Entertainment lawyer Andrew Bua bought the dog in 2004, but it was his fiancée Ashley Kroop who created the Instagram account that made Cinnamon famous.

The sick dog’s smile often elicits positive comments from passers-by, and she will be the flower girl at the couple’s July 4 wedding.

“When she started living with me, I thought she was the cutest dog and always had her smile, and it just seemed natural to me that the whole world could see her smile,” said said Ms. Kroop.

The Shiba is a small, agile dog that was originally bred by the Japanese for hunting. Cushing’s disease, which results in overproduction of the hormone cortisol by the adrenal glands, is a common disease in dogs. Glaucoma affects vision and can lead to blindness.
